Anita Briem (1982)
Summary
Anita Briem is an Icelandic actress. She is known for her role as Jane Seymour on The Tudors and her role as Hanna in Journey to the Center of the Earth.
Biography
personal life
Briem was born in Reykjavik and is the daughter of drummer Gunnlaugur Briem of Mezzoforte and back-up vocalist Erna Þórarinsdóttir. She started acting when she was nine at the National Theatre of Iceland. She moved to England at the age of sixteen and in 2004, she graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London having received the John Barton award in Stage Fighting.As a child she studied hand-to-hand combat and is trained in a variety of weaponry including the broadsword.
She is married to director/actor Dean Paraskevopoulos.
career
She has appeared on The Tudors in which she portrayed King Henry VIII's third queen Jane Seymour (she appeared only in Season Two, replaced by English actress Annabelle Wallis in Season Three-when Briem quit the role at the end of the second season). She has also appeared in Journey to the Center of the Earth . Recently, she finished shooting the suspense thriller Elevator, in which she plays a woman trapped in a New York elevator with a group of strangers, one of whom has a bomb. That film, written and produced by Marc Rosenberg and directed by Stig Svendsen, is expected to be released in 2011.- 2012
